During the whole COVID thing, I thought a lot about my loved ones who are no longer with me. The line between where I am, dancing my sailor's hornpipe on terra firma, and where they are (god knows) seems a lot more fragile than it did pre-pandemic. What inspired this painting was the feeling that my long-gone loved ones were closer than ever, as if, going about my mundane tasks, I could catch a glimpse of one of them out of the corner of my eye.

Many people think that if a painting is created on a digital tablet, it's merely a photograph with cleverly used filters. That is not the case with my digital art (or that of many other digital painters). I create the canvas size, resolution, canvas texture, choose the brushes and create my palette. Just like I would in my studio. This piece of digitally painted art required 23,830 brushstrokes and 27 hours.

This painting can be printed on paper or canvas at 9x12 or 13 1/2 x 18.
