This triptych was inspired by a December trip to Bosque del Apache in New Mexico. The vision and sound of thousands of snow geese and sandhill cranes was amazing and I heard that cacophony in my sleep for several days after. I painted this scene as a triptych, inspired by Japanese kimonos. Cranes are an important symbol of longevity and fidelity and appear as embroidered embellishments on many kimonos. This kimono wasn't created to wear, but to decorate a wall.
